Playing period and tournaments
The next/running playing period is August 1st 2011 to June 30th 2012. Tournaments included in the game are listed in the BadmintonStar calendar. These tournaments are chosen from BWF Events such as Premier Super Series, Super Series, Grand Prix Gold, World Championships and Olympics.
How to play
You pick 10 players for a tournament and your players earn points by winning matches. After a tournament ends, all points your players have earned will be added together, and the points will count for one tournament result. Your 3 best results from first half year will count for the first half year ranking, your 3 best result from second half year will count for the second half year ranking, and your 6 best results (during the whole season) will count for the yearly ranking.
Prizes
There are 3 chances to win the main prizes: Either by winning the 1st half season, the 2nd half season or by winning the whole playing period. Furthermore you have the chance to win one of our smaller prizes, if you get the best result in one of the Premier Super Series tournaments or in the World Championships. You can see our list of prizes by clicking prizes in the top menu.
About picking your team
You have to select 10 players before a tournament begins. You have to pick two players from each category with a budget of 1.000.000. BadmintonStar has ranked all players by value. It is possible to change players as often as you wish before a tournament. Deadline for changing your team is shown in the calendar and there is a count down on the site where you pick your team (“My team site”). It is also possible to keep the same 10 players for all tournaments. You will be notified if one of your players will not participate in a tournament.
How does a player earn points?
A player earns points by winning matches.
If a player beats an opponent, this player will earn 1 % of the opponents value no matter if it is a single or a double player. (e.g. Peter Gade beats Lin Dan, he will earn 0,01*150.000 = 1500 points).
Rules regarding Walkovers
Players will not earn points if they win on a walkover in 1st round (can be 1st match though). Walkover wins from 2nd round and forward will be awarded with full points.
